KATANGA BUSINESS TRADE FAIR

THE second edition of the Katanga Business Trade Fair was held from 28-30 May in Lubumbashi, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). This is the most important Trade Fair of the DRC and the Copperbelt mining region, particularly as Katanga is one of the fastest-growing regions in Africa.

Zambia Sugar was invited to the event through the Zambia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ZACCI).The focus of participation was to enhance market development in the DRC in the wake of increased regional sugar sales forecast for the year. It was also expected to bring more insights on the DRC market needs, particularly in Katanga province and surrounding markets.

The event provided a B2B exhibition featuring 160 domestic and international companies operating in nine major sectors: Agriculture, Automotive and Equipment, Banks and Finance, Infrastructure and Construction, IT and Telecoms, Mining and Industry, Services individuals, Professional Services and Transport and Logistics. Exhibitors were provided with a networking platform by presenting products and services to the major players in the business world.

The Zambia Sugar pavilion attracted an array of visitors ranging from small to large-scale businesses, as well as political figures and other influential stakeholders. This provided an opportunity for the stand managers to engage with all these stakeholders, who included the guest of honour and Governor of the Katanga Province in the DRC Mr Moise Katumbi.

ZAMBIA-CHINA BUSINESS FORUM

ZAMBIA SUGAR participated in the Zambia–China Business Forum which was held on 13 May at the Lusaka East Multi-Facility Economic Zone in the ZCCZ’s exhibition centre. The business forum was hosted under the auspices of the Zambia Development Agency (ZDA) in collaboration with the Zambia-China Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone (ZCCZ) and JIHAI Investment Zambia Corporation Limited.

The forum attracted ten companies and government officials from the Jilin Province of China, representing various sectors including agriculture, agro-processing, energy, manufacturing, infrastructure and automotive.

The Zambia Sugar stand attracted a wide variety of business contacts and a visit from the Zambian Commerce Minister and MP, Hon. Margaret Mwanakatwe,

The stand managers were Gilbert Kaimana (protocol & admin manager) and Samuel Mulambia (market development manager) who were joined by the business development manager Munuka Maina.
