ZAMBIA SUGAR has this year stepped up its participation in trade shows in the region, as the company seeks more regional market penetration. The company took part in two international trade events – the Nairobi International Trade Fair in Kenya (28 September-4 October) and the Trade Mission to DRC – Lubumbashi (7-9 October).

Theme of the Nairobi event was “Enhancing Technology in Agriculture and Industry for Food Security and National Growth”. Zambia Sugar was among firms which were invited by the government, through the Zambia Development Agency (ZDA), to use the platform to market Zambian products in Kenya and East Africa.

Zambia Sugar joined 31 other Zambian companies on the mission to the DRC, which is the largest single export market for Zambian goods in the region, with a population of about 77 million. The highlight of the trade mission was the recent Bilateral Trade Agreement signed between Zambia and Congo DR in August 2015 aimed at strengthening trade between the two countries.

Zambia Sugar is using the international trade exhibitions and trade missions to consolidate its regional market foothold in light of the effects of the post-EU market reforms. The company also attended the Katanga Business Trade Fair from 28-30 May in Lubumbashi, DRC.
